Most conscientious families make sure to use smoke detectors throughout their homes. They regularly check these devices to make sure that they work effectively, and change the batteries on a regular basis. However, many parents do not realize that despite their diligent efforts, the smoke alarms in their home may not protect its most treasured occupants: their children.

Kids And Traditional Smoke Detectors

Recent studies have shown that, while most adults respond positively to the piercing beep of a smoke detector - waking up within seconds and getting out of harm's way - the majority of children do not. In fact, many kids are able to sleep right through the seemingly unavoidable racket that ensues when a smoke detector is triggered.
